Katerina Axelsson has made a name for herself as a female entrepreneur as the CEO and co-founder of Tastry, an artificial intelligence company that uses data to predict a consumer’s wine taste preferences. This article by Sergio C. Muñoz in the Los Angeles Venture Association (LAVA) provides an inside look at her journey through entrepreneurship.
Axelsson graduated from California Polytechnic State University in 2015 with a degree in chemistry and biochemistry. After working in a wine facility throughout college, she realized there was a lack of communication from wine companies about one of the most important aspects of the wine purchasing process: the taste.
By working with collaborators in the computer science field, Tastry was created. Axelsson participated in the CIE Summer Accelerator Program in 2014 and later continued working with the CIE Small Business Development Center and CIE mentors.
