May 13, 2022 (San Luis Obispo, CA): Digital Market Media has won the “2022 Outstanding Business of the Year” award and SBA Fresno District Small Business Person of the Year. Neocharge has won the “Technology Business of the Year” award from the Central CA SBDC Network for their significant business achievements. They were nominated for the Small Business Awards by the Cal Poly Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship Small Business Development Center, which serves San Luis Obispo County.
Digital Market Media (DMM): The Small Business Administration (SBA) “Outstanding Business of the Year” and “Small Business Person of the Year” awards recognize business owners for their significant achievements. Digital Market Media provides media buying, advertising, inbound call generation, exclusive lead generation, and live transfer calls. DMM serves, and has retained since its founding year, many fortune 500 companies. The company so values its team’s ability to balance work and life while providing tremendous financial opportunity for at-home workers which led to its rapid expansion, particularly during the pandemic. DMM was built from the beginning as a 100% remote work from home opportunity and went from 30 employees in 2019, to 140 in 2020. This is part of their overall plan to reach $50 million in sales by 2025 (digitalmarketmedia.com).
Neocharge: Their mission is to provide a more sustainable future by eliminating barriers to electric vehicle adoption. NeoCharge has created the first portable 220-volt smart splitter. They currently save customers $2200 in installation fees each, over $4M total to date, giving customers access to EV charging at home at an affordable cost and without having to rewire or make any changes to the home they live in. The Smart Splitter is the only product of its type that is UL Safety Certified. This certification has enabled them to work with utility companies, including Southern California Edison where they are helping disadvantaged communities get access to EV charging. Neocharge has completed the Cal Poly Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship and Wells Fargo Innovation Incubator Programs (getneocharge.com).
Both companies credit their success in large part to the assistance they received from the Cal Poly CIE SBDC. “We were honored to have both these companies win awards,” says Cal Poly CIE Economic Development and SBDC Director Judy Mahan. “Not only has it been a pleasure working with them, but also incredibly rewarding for our team of expert consultants and our organization as a whole to have been able to support their growth and success.”
