SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA- The Cal Poly Center for Innovation for Entrepreneurship (CIE) Small Business Development Center (SBDC) announced the top six startup finalists to compete in the 2024 Angel Conference: Horizen Technologies, JackRabbit Salvage Marketplace, Liquid8, Little Feet Packaging, Mense, and Nexstera Tech. These companies will have an opportunity to compete for $100,000+ in equity-backed funding on May 2nd, 5:00-7:30 PM. The hybrid event will take place at Rod & Hammer Rock and stream on YouTube Live.
- Horizen Technologies: provides tools that empower alcohol drinkers and public safety officials to make more informed decisions. The first product is an inexpensive patch that conveniently and continually gives insight into individual BAC levels.
- JackRabbit Salvage Marketplace: serves the design & construction industries as well as buyers of materials, facilitating the monetization of primarily C&D (construction & demolition) waste; thus turning waste into product.
- Liquid8: developing a revolutionary way to help companies meet their water neutral goals through an Amazon-style water marketplace.
- Little Feet Packaging, Inc.: on a mission to replace the 160 million tons of plastic packaging used each year with paper based recyclable and compostable solution called Pubble Wrap.
- Mense: on a mission to destigmatize menstruation and elevate the conversation surrounding this natural and essential aspect of reproductive health. Starting with period care made for menstruators by menstruators.
- Nexstera Tech: revolutionizing radar technology using machine learning to precisely identify materials in challenging environments. The flagship product, Pyrotack, targets the billion-dollar issue of battery-induced fires in the waste stream.
