SBIR & STTR Funding for Small Businesses – What Are These Grants and How You Can Apply

October 12, 2023 @ 9:00 am - 10:30 am

Small businesses engaged in Research & Development (R&D) may be eligible to access government dollars through the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and the Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs.

SBIR provides early-stage research and development funding to small technology companies or individuals who are interested in forming a company. STTR is a similar program that requires small businesses to team up with a research institution, such as a university.

This workshop will provide an extensive overview of the different phases of these federal programs, as well as an in-depth discussion of a simple, yet highly-effective process for developing a competitive Phase I and Phase II proposal. The workshop will review all important commercialization aspects of the proposal.

Led by Matt Hutton; Matt earned a BS and MS in Environmental Engineering from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. He has over a decade of experience in R&D fundraising and has worked with a range of companies pursuing funds from various government agencies.

There are two attendance options:

In-Person: In person event will take place at the Cal Poly Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (872 Higuera St., San Luis Obispo, CA 93401)

Virtual: Attendees will recieve Zoom login information* the morning of the event.
