Coffee & Conversation with Brett Landry

Join us for our monthly Coffee and Conversation event in the SLO HotHouse. Coffee will be provided, and the event is always free. Brett Landry is the founder and executive creative director of DRKHRSE, a creative communications company based in Morro Bay California. Before moving to Morro Bay with his wife and son, Brett worked as a creative director for agencies and clients around the globe, creating everything from Super Bowl commercials to documentary films starring Kelly Slater. An avid surfer, he has recently moved to the central coast to pursue the arts of filmmaking, social media, virtual reality, editing, sound design and again, surfing. Brett holds a master's degree from the Virginia Commonwealth University in communications as well as a B.S. in marketing. DRKHRSE has recently opened a 2000 square foot studio where they are prepping to be the first company to fly a drone over One World Trade Center, as part of a non-profit initiative with The Durst Organization. They are also developing a program to help high school students explore and produce virtual reality media for use in their school's social media communications programs.

Dr. Sam Slishman started his career in New Mexico, for 10 years building a nonprofit called Endorphin Power Company, aimed at helping people with drug and alcohol problems. He now works in the ER at Sierra Vista in San Luis Obispo, and also runs his Telemedicine company called "Pre-R." Since medical school Dr. Slishman has tinkered with medical product development, and today has a few products on the market including afemoral traction splint, a rescue harness and a pediatric dosing device.

In 2014, after a career in corporate brand management, she launched Pipsticks, a subscription sticker club. Pipsticks sends gorgeous, high-quality stickers to subscribers of all ages every month. With thousands of subscribers in over 60 countries she has fostered a community of sticker lovers around the world. Pipsticks opened its flagship brick and mortar store on Monterey Street in San Luis Obispo in 2017 and is a destination for sticker lovers around the country. Pipsticks will be launching a line of planners and sticker books in partnership with Workman Publishing this spring which will be available in all Barnes and Noble Retailers.
