Join us for our monthly Coffee and Conversation event in the SLO HotHouse. Coffee will be provided, and the event is always free. Dr. Sam Slishman started his career in New Mexico, for 10 years building a nonprofit called Endorphin Power Company, aimed at helping people with drug and alcohol problems. He now works in the ER at Sierra Vista in San Luis Obispo, and also runs his Telemedicine company called "Pre-R." Since medical school Dr. Slishman has tinkered with medical product development, and today has a few products on the market including afemoral traction splint, a rescue harness and a pediatric dosing device.

Join us Wednesday April 11th 8:30 AM at The SLO HotHouse for coffee & conversation.   Maureen (Mo) Vázquez is a designer, a mom to four, a child of the 80s, and a life-long sticker lover. In 2014, after a career in corporate brand management, she launched Pipsticks, a subscription sticker club. Pipsticks sends gorgeous, high-quality stickers to subscribers of all ages every month. With thousands of subscribers in over 60 countries she has fostered a community of sticker lovers around the world. Pipsticks opened its flagship brick and mortar store on Monterey Street in San Luis Obispo in 2017 and is a destination for sticker lovers around the country. Pipsticks will be launching a line of planners and sticker books in partnership with Workman Publishing this spring which will be available in all Barnes and Noble Retailers.

Join us for coffee and hear from a great guest speaker! Katerina Axelsson CEO and Founder of Tastry, will share her entrepreneurial experiences and journey to creating a company in San Luis Obispo. Katerina, is a graduate of Cal Poly with a B.S. in Chemistry. While in school, she worked at a custom-crush facility and noticed that one of their batches imprinted with two different labels received drastically different industry scores: it was then that she knew there had to be a more science-based way to score wine. Thus, Tastry was born. Tastry is a sensory sciences company that uses advanced chemistry, machine learning and artificial intelligence to match consumers to products they will love

Steve Ehret, co-owner of Sandbox Marketing, will join us this month to share his experience in dealing with a sudden shut down of his business amid a pandemic, identifying a new opportunity, and pivoting his business to meet a new market demand. Generating tens of millions in revenue over a few short months, Steve has a wealth of knowledge, creativity, and a small business entrepreneurial spirit to share with you. This conversation will be moderated by Simon Arkell. Simon sits on the Cal Poly business school Dean’s Advisory Council and the President’s Committee. He is currently the co-founder and president of Deep Lens, a healthcare AI company focused on matching cancer patients to clinical trials. This month we’ll be discussing the latest developments with the Paycheck Protection Program – with Tim Dossa, a Certified Public Accountant and acting Business Consulting Manager at Glenn Burdette.
